dans l'espace de la ville memorial Notre-Dame de Lorette, France   600,000 names of soldiers 100 years after the Great War, the Nord-Pas de Calais region has decided to build a monument bearing the names of dead soldiers on its soil between 1914 and 1918. All sides are included in alphabetical order, with no indication of nationality or rank. The list is a staggering number of 579,606 names. They came from 42 countries. The location is in the small town of Ablain Saint -Nazaire, between Arras and Lens. It faces the cemetery of Notre-Dame de Lorette where are buried 44,000 soldiers. The architect Philippe Prost has designed a thin ellipse of concrete, part of which is cantilevered overhang, evoking the fragility of peace and individual responsibility.   Look file to Arras and Lens.
